The UC Irvine/Broadcom Connection

The Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine, endowed by Broadcom's co-founder Dr. Henry Samueli in 2000, is one of the nation's fastest growing engineering schools. Broadcom maintains a close research relationship with the university, and in 2007, the company moved its corporate headquarters to Irvine's 185-acre University Research Park. Broadcom occupies eight new buildings and expanded its Irvine operations to a new 700,000 square foot campus, which houses over 1500 employees.

Each year the Henry Samueli School of Engineering presents a number of distinguished awards to industry leaders and faculty. In 2005, Dr. Henry T. Nicholas, III, co-founder and former CEO of Broadcom, was named the recipient of the UC Irvine "Engineering the Future Award." Dr. Nicolas' pioneering efforts in pervasive communications, along with his drive to accelerate the development of future technologies, have earned him this award.
