Acting General Counsel and Secretary
Alvin Segel is the Acting General Counsel and Secretary for Broadcom Corporation. Mr. Segel is responsible for advising on all legal matters and overseeing the work of inside and outside legal counsel.
In May of 2008, the Broadcom Board of Directors elected Alvin G. Segel, a senior partner of the law firm of Irell & Manella, LLP, as Acting General Counsel and Secretary of the company. Mr. Segel's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, public offerings and private placements of securities, securities law and corporate governance, business, and related fields. Mr. Segel joined Irell & Manella in 1970. From 1982 through 1988, he served as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of Wickes Companies, Inc., a multi-billion dollar diversified manufacturer and retailer. Mr. Segel has served as a member of Irell & Manella's Executive Committee since 1990. He received his J.D. from Columbia Law School.
