BCM20741

ROM-Based, Single-Microphone, Mono Headset IC with Noise and Echo Reduction

The Broadcom BCM20741 is a monolithic 65 nm, single-chip Bluetooth® 3.0 mono headset solution with very low power consumption. This is the next generation of the highly popular BCM2044S devices that implement SmartAudio® noise and echo cancelling algorithms in the ROM without the need of an external Flash, thus significantly reducing the BOM. Broadcom has further upgraded the feature set of the SmartAudio package integrated in the BCM20741.

This ROM solution has been designed to permit the lowest possible BOM for the highest quality mono headsets. The ROM contains a default application built on top of the highly interoperable Broadcom BTE-Audio Stack. Sophisticated configurability has been built into the default application allowing customers to differentiate. A small patch RAM space is also provided for last minute code changes prior to production.

The BCM20741 transceiver subsystem delivers a highly integrated radio with superior receiver sensitivity. The performance of this subsystem enables greater range and more robust link performance.

  • Single-chip Bluetooth 3.0 transceiver supporting Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) and Bluetooth 2.1, 2.0, 1.2, and 1.1 backward compatibility
  • Integrated SmartAudio 160 speech enhancement algorithms with:
    -Noise suppression
    -Echo suppression
    -Wind-noise suppression
    -Packet-loss concealment
    -Bit-error concealment
    -Speech-intelligibility enhancement
-Automatic gain control (AGC) and automatic volume control (AVC)
  • Ideal for low-cost, footprint-challenged headset designs
  • Enhanced audio quality, reduced charging times, and multipoint connections through the integration of various noise suppression technologies, circuitry, and application profiles
