Cable Set-Top Box Digital Transport Adapter (DTA) SoC
Broadcom's BCM7002 cable digital transport adapter (DTA) solution allows cable operators to transition analog cable subscribers to an all-digital service enabling expanded network capacity for deploying more value added services such as high definition (HD) content, video on demand (VoD) and higher speed DOCSIS® 3.0 data and voice services.
- Features switchable content protection that allows a single device to be used with multiple content protection systems. As a result, one product can be inventoried and deployed on a number of content protection networks, supporting multiple content protection systems, and moved from one network to another without changes
- Includes an integrated 1 GHz SCTE-40+ cable tuner that exceeds the SCTE-40 specification as required by multiple service operators (MSOs) with QAM signal reception, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and digital-to-analog converters (DACs)to reduce a manufacturers overall bill-of-materials (BoM) cost and accelerate the deployment of low cost converter solutions demanded by North American cable operators
- Also includes an integrated transport processor, an MPEG-2 video decoder, a Broadcast Television Systems Committee (BTSC) audio encoder, a Dolby® MPEG-2 audio decoder, and a single National Television Systems Committee (NTSC) video encoder with analog output
- Exceeds Energy Star requirements for power consumption, providing very low active and standby power
