The BCM28150 is an advanced 1080p Multimedia Smartphone SoC (system on a chip) solution with a high-performance dual-core ARM Cortex A9 application processor subsystem, best-in-class multimedia, graphics and imaging from Broadcom's VideoCore® IV technology, integrated with a fast 4G HSPA+ modem. The BCM28150 takes advantage of Broadcom's Merlyn™ high performance application processor system with dual 1.1GHz Cortex A9s and dual LPDDR2 memory. Multimedia is powered by Broadcom's 1080p VideoCore IV processor, delivering industry leading 2D & 3D graphics at 1Gpx/s fill rates, high profile 1080p video and high quality, low light imaging supporting up to 20Mpx image sensors.
The integrated EDGE, WCDMA and 4G HSPA+ modem supports a release 8 feature set, and 14.4, 21Mbps HSDPA for fast downloads and includes Broadcom's PRISM (programmable interference suppression module) technology which mitigates interference from radio signals emanating from neighboring cells to provide higher performance gains in high interference environments where they're needed the most. The BCM28150 also comes with fully integrated stereo audio and a rich set of peripherals. Designed on a 40nm CMOS process, the BCM28150 enables customers to build one of the highest performance, smallest footprint size and lowest power smartphone solutions available for Android™ and other open operating systems.
The BCM28150 form factor reference platform (Broadstone™) includes the 40nm BCM28150 HSPA+ system-on-a-chip (SoC) smartphone processer, the BCM2091 radio frequency (RF) IC, the BCM59056 advanced power management unit (PMU) with charger and audio support and Broadcom's world-class Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, FM, A-GPS and NFC connectivity technologies.
