VSB/QAM Receiver Evaluation System
The BCM93510 HDTV reference design is an evaluation and development platform designed to demonstrate the superior performance and unique features of the BCM3510 VSB/QAM receiver. This reference design system helps customers rapidly prototype and demonstrate an HDTV receiver/set top box with the industry's highest performing VSB receiver, the BCM3510. The BCM93510 is easy to use and to integrate into existing backend system designs. The BCM3510 receiver is Broadcom's second-generation receiver that leverages the extensive field trial experience performed using the BCM3500, which consistently outperformed competitive VSB solutions in both the laboratory and field environments.
The BCM93510 can be be used to operate the BCM3510 in terrestrial VSB or cable QAM or VSB modes, allowing designers to develop a single front-end for a cable-ready solution. The on-board commercial tuner meets the dual-mode requirements while maintaining low system cost. The system's output can operate in either serial or parallel mode. The BCM93510 also performs NTSC demodulation and provides left/right audio and video outputs for connection to standard TV monitors.
