SUPL-SLP

Hosted Secure User Plane Location (SUPL) Location Platform (SLP)

Broadcom's Hosted Secure User Plane Location
(SUPL) Location Platform (SLP) offers Mobile
Network Operators (MNO) and service providers
all the functionality of the most precise wireless
location technologies including Assisted GPS
(AGPS) without the need to make investments in
Location Based Services (LBS) infrastructure.

SUPL is the emerging standard developed by the
Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) for AGPS using
existing IP networks as the underlying data
bearer. SUPL lends itself very well to a hosted
solution where the vendor takes responsibility for
providing a specified quality of service, assured
by Service Level Agreement.

  • Full OMA SUPL 1.0 compliance, demonstrated with numerous worldwide Tier 1 MNO Interoperability Trials and OMA Test Festivals
  • ULP protocol (OMA-TS_ULP-V1_0) for the transactions between the SET and the SLP
  • SUPL 1.0 with Transport Layer Security (TLS): TLS is a cryptographic protocol that provides for secure communications over the Internet. TLS allows proper client/server authentication, thus ensuring LBS user privacy
  • Hosted Architecture: Interface to the MNO is the OMA Mobile Location Protocol (MLP). Handsets interface directly with the Broadcom SUPL Server through an IP interface. Broadcom SLP has its own Short Message Service (SMS)/Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) Push Gateway and supports standard interfaces for Short Message Service Center (SMSC) and Push Proxy gateway (PPG)
