802.11 Wireless LAN Solutions

Broadcom's AirForce® family has rapidly become the preferred Wi-Fi solution for 802.11 LAN equipment vendors and notebook suppliers. AirForce Wi-Fi solutions include all-CMOS 802.11 radio chips, baseband/MAC chips, 802.11g chipsets, Wi-Fi chipsets and network processors for today's popular wireless LAN standards, including IEEE 802.11a, b, and 54g maxperformance 802.11g. SmartRadio® technology, included in all Broadcom radios, improves wireless LAN throughput and range.

Self-Calibrating Wi-Fi Chipsets for Optimum Performance

In addition to advanced signal processing techniques, the all-CMOS solutions are capable of self-calibrating based on usage temperature and other environmental conditions, reconfiguring constantly for optimum performance. The "M" series baseband/MAC 802.11g chipsets chips have been optimized for new low-power mobile processors with an advanced architecture that features low power consumption to extend notebook battery life.

The AirForce family of network processors features MIPS32 processor core, and includes AP, routing and gateway functions with a variety of connectivity options. We combine these chips with OneDriver software to provide complete reference designs that offer customers turnkey solutions for 802.11 wireless LAN equipment for today's popular LAN standards, including 54g maxperformance 802.11g.
