IP Set-top Box Reference Design
Broadcom’s BCM97318 IP Set-top Box reference design is a complete hardware and software design based on the BCM7318 and BCM7411 chipsets.
Broadcom's BCM97318 reference design includes the BCM7318 single-chip IP Set-top Box decoder and the Broadcom BCM7411 AVC video decoder/audio processor chip. These chips, combined with the Broadcom BCM6348 ADSL2+ chip, offer manufacturers a complete, cost- effective IP Set-top Box (STB) solution that supports both the MPEG- 2 compression standard and the H.264 standard. Support for both standards enables the STB to be used in current MPEG-2 compression-based networks and provides the capability to migrate to H.264 compression when telecommunications operators upgrade their networks to support H.264 advanced compression technology. Broadcom's reference design also enables personal video recording (PVR) in an IP Set-top Box.
- Video: MPEG-2/MPEG-4 AVC standard-definition decode and display
- Audio: Dolby Digital AC-3, Enhanced Dolby Digital AC3+, MPEG-1/2 layer 1/2/3 (MP3), AAC, aacPlus support including stereo, stereo downmix and 5.1 multichannel surround
- Provides a cost-effective solution for IP Set-top-Box applications that supports high-quality MPEG-2/ MPEG-4AVC video and multiformat audio
- Complete time-to-market IP MPEG-4 AVC solution
- Set-Top Boxes
