Single-Chip Decoder for IP Set-top Boxes
Broadcom's BCM7316 is a fully integrated MPEG2 single-chip solution for the IP Set-top Box (STB) market.
Broadcom’s BCM7316 integrates existing technologies from within Broadcom's cable, satellite and networking groups. By combining these technologies, the BCM7316 offers a low-cost solution for the IP-STB marketplace. The BCM7316 design is based on Unified Memory Architecture (UMA), using a 133-MHz, 16- or 32-bit wide Double Data Rate (DDR) memory interface for added system performance. The BCM7316 is capable of decoding transport streams delivered via the fully integrated 10/100 Mbit Ethernet controller, via the SATA host interface from an external hard disk drive, or from an external TS input source such as a DVB-C/S or T NIM.
