StrataGX™ Secure SoCs
Broadcom’s family of secure SoCs combine BroadSAFE™ security capabilities with ARM CPUs, industry standard I/O and peripheral controllers. These SoCs offers a range of performance and features to provide optimized solutions for applications that require security such as PC user authentication, point-of-sale (POS) payment terminals, mobile POS (mPOS) devices, encrypting PINpads, SmartPOS devices, self-pay kiosks, and consumer vending machines. To enable the fastest time-to-market for end-customer products, all StrataGX secure SoCs have been pre-evaluated to comply with stringent Payment card industry (PCI) industry and EMV (Europay, Mastercard, Visa) certifications.
StrataGX™ BCM5810X Secure Microcontrollers
The Broadcom® StrataGX™ BCM5810X is a highly integrated System-on-a-Chip (SoC) microcontroller family ideally suited for security applications such as mobile Point-Of-Sale (mPOS), secure encrypting PINpads (EPP), secure card readers, POS terminals, and user authentication devices/dongles. In addition, the BCM5810X devices can be used anywhere a secure co-processor is needed (alongside a standard application processor for example), or within various emerging IoT applications that require security and connectivity. The family includes various BroadSAFE™ security features, an efficient ARM Cortex M-series microcontroller, large on-chip SRAM, and a rich offering of industry standard communication peripherals including certified Near Field Communication (NFC). In addition to being NFC-compliant, the integrated contactless smartcard reader can also comply with EMV (Europay, Mastercard, Visa) and 14443 contactless card industry standards. This FIPS 140-2 Level 3-capable security product family integrates advanced security features to protect the system against hardware and software security attacks. Cryptographic acceleration functions are supported in the hardware for public key algorithms, data encryption/decryption, and secure hash algorithms. In addition, security protection logic including tamper sensors, operating condition monitors, Battery-Protected RAM (BBRAM), random number generator (RNG) and other security mechanisms are integrated for added protection. Other industry standard IO are included as well such as 7816 SmartCard controller, magstripe reader (MSR), USB host and device, SPI, UART, I2C, SRAM I/F, ADCs, and GPIO.
StrataGX™ BCM58302/303 Secure Processors
The Broadcom® BCM58302/303 series of Secure Processors is a family of highly integrated System-on-a-Chip (SoC) devices suitable for a wide range of secure applications such as point-of-sale (POS) payment, SmartPOS terminals, intelligent and secure Internet of Things (IoT) devices, and home security gateways. The family includes BroadSAFE™ security features, a high performance ARM Cortex A-series microprocessor, multimedia acceleration, and a rich offering of industry standard communication peripherals and I/O. Popular industry networking and peripheral interfaces are integrated that enable BCM5830X devices to connect seamlessly to a variety of system components. Interfaces supported in this series include: 10/100/1000 Ethernet Switch/MAC with integrated EEE physical layers (PHYs), Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0, SDIO, UARTs, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), Broadcom Serial Control (BSC), Smart Card, LCD controller (parallel and serial Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) displays), audio, resistive touchscreen, camera, and key pad.. The ARM core implements the ARM TrustZone Secure Processing Architecture to enable the device to enforce a security boundary between secure and open applications.
