Small Outline, 5 Lead Intelligent Power Module Optocoupler

The Broadcom HCPL-M456 intelligent power module interface optocouplers use a GaAsP LED optically coupled to an integrated high gain photo detector.

Minimized propagation delay difference between devices makes these optocouplers excellent solutions for improving inverter efficiency through reduced switching dead time.



  • Performance Specified for Common IPM Applications over Industrial Temperature Range:
    -40 degrees C to 100 degrees C
  • Fast Maximum Propagation Delays:
    tPHL = 400 ns tPLH = 550 ns
  • Minimized Pulse Width Distortion (PWD = 370 ns)
  • Very High Common Mode Rejection (CMR): 15 kV/us at VCM = 1500 V
  • CTR > 44% at IF = 10 mA
