Optical Isolation Amplifier in 15mm Stretched SO8 Package

The Broadcom ACNT-H79A and ACNT-H790 are high-linearity optically isolated amplifier devices in 15mm wide creepage and 14.2mm clearance, designed for current and voltage sensing applications in systems such as motor drives and renewable energy inverters. In a typical motor drive implementation, the ACNT-H79A/H790 can be used to sense a voltage drop across a sense resistor. A differential output voltage that is proportional to the current across the resistor is created on the other side of the optical isolation barrier.
 
The ACNT-H79A (±1% gain tolerance) and ACNT-H790 (±3% gain tolerance) offer common-mode transient immunity of 15 kV/µs, which provides the precision and stability needed to accurately monitor motor current in noisy motor control environment. Accurate current monitoring enables smoother motor control (less “torque ripple”) for various types of motor applications.
 
The ACNT-H79A/H790 operates on a single 5V supply and provides excellent linearity with an SNR of 60 dB. With 200kHz bandwidth and 1.6-µs fast response time, the device captures transients in short circuit and overload conditions.
