Objectives

After completing this course, learners should be able to:
  • Discuss Fibre Channel over IP (FCIP) requirements, usage, protocol mapping, encapsulation, terminology, and theory of operations  
  • Describe the hardware components of Brocade 7840 Extension Switch and SX6 Extension Blade
  • Describe Brocade extension product components (ports, tunnels, and circuits)
  • Discuss FCIP features: FCIP Trunking; Virtual Fabric support; Load Leveling; Compression; Adaptive Rate Limiting; Hot Code Load support
  • Discuss example configurations
  • Introduce the IP Extension (IPEXT) feature used for storage replication (non FCIP traffic)
  • Configure and verify a VE_Port-to-VE_Port connection
  • Identify commands and Brocade Network Advisor configuration procedures
  • Discuss the WAN performance tool (Wtool)
  • Describe the Path Discovery Protocol (PMTUD) discovery process

Prerequisites

  • Six months experience with storage and storage area networks
  • Completed the FC101: Intro to Fibre Channel Concepts web based training
